"We are aiming to produce large amounts of top quality milk from functional commercial cattle. Replacement heifers and embryos are always available."
Walker Farms is located 5 kilometres east of Aylmer Ontario, Canada. It has been in the family name since 1962. Jon Walker Jr. bought the farm from his father in 1996. Prior to this he farmed near London under the prefix Futurecrest. Since then we have increased our herd to 1050 milk cows. Heifers are born and moved to our new calf barn. Calves are placed in 1 of 4 diiferent rooms where they are housed individually. After 5 weeks dividers are taken out between the calves and they run in groups of 3-4. After another 3 weeks heifers are moved to a feedlot in Richmond. Heifers are raised at the feedlot untill close to calving when they are moved back to the home farm. Recently fresh heifers start on the home farm, and after a few weeks milking, they are moved to the new milking farm.
Walker Farms has expanded in 2008. A brand new milking facility has been built for 1000+ milking cattle. The facility is located just north of Talbot Line East, on Carter Rd. A 790 ft. free-stall barn has been built. The parlour is a 50 stall rotary. The facility is equiped with flush system for holding area and alleys, flume pump, and sand lane. To feed the cattle 4 bunker silos have been built (2 haylage, 1 corn, and 1 corn silage). New office, and viewing area have been built to get an overhead look on the parlour. Visitors are always welcome to view Walker Farms new facility.
